Pharmaceutical name:
Sildenafil Citrate
The primary ingredient in Fildena is Sildenafil Citrate. Sildenafil is classified as a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, which is a group of medications. This drug is typically prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction (male impotence). Sildenafil Citrate influences the body's response to sexual arousal. It improves smooth muscle relaxation through a chemical called nitric oxide, leading to increased blood flow into the penis, facilitating the ability to achieve and sustain an erection. Additionally, Sildenafil Citrate can be utilized in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The standard dosage is 50 mg, which should be taken 30-60 minutes prior to engaging in sexual activity. Depending on Fildena’s side effects, the dose may be adjusted to 100 mg or reduced to 25 mg. The highest advised dose is 100 mg, and it should not be taken more than once a day. It's advised to avoid high-fat meals, grapefruit, and grapefruit juice while using this medication.
Before beginning treatment with Fildena, inform your doctor or healthcare provider of any allergies you have. Middle-aged individuals may experience heightened sensitivity to the drug's side effects. This medication could lead to dizziness or visual disturbances. It is advisable to limit alcohol consumption. Prior to using this medication, share your medical history with your doctor or pharmacist, particularly regarding: sickle cell disease, fluctuations in blood pressure (high or low), dehydration, history of painful or prolonged erection (priapism), eye disorders, heart issues, kidney problems, liver disease, pulmonary edema, or anatomical deformations of the penis (such as angulation, scarring, or Peyronie's disease). Sildenafil offers no protection against sexually transmitted diseases like HIV.
Fildena should not be combined with other erectile dysfunction treatments or nitrates, as this can lead to dangerously low blood pressure. Such interactions may result in dizziness, fainting, heart attacks, or strokes. This medication is not suitable for women, children, or individuals allergic to any of its components.
Common side effects include stomach discomfort, headaches, flushing, heartburn, nasal congestion, dizziness, diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, and prolonged (over 4 hours) or painful erections. Vision alterations such as sensitivity to light and blurred vision might also occur. Serious allergic reactions are infrequent. This does not encompass all potential side effects; if you experience effects not mentioned here, reach out to your doctor or pharmacist.
Fildena should not be taken with nitrates and recreational drugs containing amyl or butyl nitrite; alpha-blockers; other erectile dysfunction medications; or high blood pressure drugs. Grapefruit juice can increase the concentration of Sildenafil in the bloodstream, while a high-fat meal can diminish its effectiveness. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for further details.
Fildena is used as needed, making it unlikely to miss a dose. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical assistance. Symptoms of an overdose include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, and feelings of light-headedness or fainting.
Store Fildena at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C), away from light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Ensure that all medications are kept out of reach of children and pets.
